The 2nd Annual Winter Classic 8k on Saturday January 26th, 2013 is presented by the Charlotte Running Club. The course will follow a completely new route and will be an afternoon race (3pm). The course features a flat gravel path which is flat and considered fast and is designed to showcase the trails that many local runners visit every day. ALL NEW 2013 FUN RUN FOR KIDS presented by Extreme Ice! 2013 Results: Special thanks to all of the runners and sponsors for their support. Without this help, we would not be able to have events like the Winter Classic 8k. ONLINE REGISTRATION IS CLOSED - See Ya Saturday!!! Weather Update 1/26/13 5:26PM - The ice should be gone long before race time so our race is a go for tomorrow. Austin Photography will be taking pictures on race day. The pictures should be up a few days after our event. News Flash - 1/15/2013 - Extreme Ice hosting a post race skating party The Extreme Ice in Indian Trail, NC which is about 10 minutes from our race location will be hosting a post race skating party for the runners and their families after the Winter Classic 8k. Entry is free with the display of a race shirt, bib, or mention of the race. Skate rentals will be $4.00. Open skating ends at 5:50 PM, but Extreme Ice will be handing out guest passes if runners would like to go another day. News Flash - 12/23/2012- Winter Classic 8k is RRCA - NC 8k XC Championship
The RRCA of NC has designated our Winter Classic 8k to be the RRCA
North Carolina State Cross Country Championship. Special RRCA Awards will be presented to top overall, master, grandmaster, and senior grandmaster male and female winners.  SATURDAY JANUARY 26th 3pm (afternoon race!!!)

Mail-in Registration (click here) must be post stamped by January 21, 2013.
Online registration will be available through midnight on January 24, 2013.
Race Day Registration will be available onsite from 1:30pm-2:45PM for the price of $40.
RunningWorks Charity:
 The Charlotte Running Club is proud to annouce that we have selected RunningWorks as the official Charity to be associated our Winter Classic 8k.
RunningWorks is a new organization founded just this year that works with the homeless "neighbors" in our Charlotte community. This is a great organization for the club to be associated with and we be donating a portion of the proceeds from our race to them. More information about RunningWorks can be found here.
Additionally, if you would like to make a personal donation to the RunningWorks, this can be done during the online registration process. All of these donations go directly to RunningWorks.
** Our "neighbors" are excited about our race and are planning to run in it. Please come out and say "hi" to them. Encouragement goes much further than you ever realize. **
Course: The course runs along a crushed gravel and dirt path. Runners will make two loops on the course so family and friends will have multiple opportunities to cheer runners as they pass. The Kid's Fun Run will start at the 8k starting line, make a single loop around the lake, and finish at the 8k finishline.
Parking
There will be parking available off of Monroe Road at the Main entrance to McAlpine Park.
Timing:
Lee Timing, LLC will provide timing and race management services to ensure the race runs smoothly.
